Phrases by Squisties

This is a special Christmas edition of Phrases by Squisties.

One thing I will never forget is something Alex said when she was really young. One of Alex's better friends at the time was named Chelsea. We were singing Angels We Have Heard on High in church, and after the first two verses, someone noticed that Alex was not singing "..in excelsis Deo" but rather, she was singing "..in a Chelsea's stable." I mean, it kind of makes sense..she must have connected the stable with the one Christ was born in, and Chelsea was just what fit in in her head.

Whenever we sing this song I think of those lyrics..and might slip them into a verse or two ;)

Love you Al!

the word

Alex wanted me to clarify where "squistie" came from because she didn't invent it.  I actually say a lot of words where I add "...ie" to the end.  Many of these are even used by my two year old and other family members today.  For example: diap-ies, eye boog-ies, shoog-ie (instead of sugar), etc.  But alas, this is not where it comes from either.

Our husbands have a group dislike of ANY instance in which we feel the need to bring up old boyfriends, but I'm afraid the credit for this term goes to one of mine.  He had two sisters which he lovingly referred to, and addressed (on the phone at least), as squisties.  Like in any relationship, I began to adopt certain phrase-ology and other characteristics from this significant other.  I called my sisters that a few times after that, they liked it, and it stuck.  And there you have it...the birth of Squisties.

Brothers

I love that us older three are married and we have brothers of our very own..since we grew up sans brothers. Alex..I can't wait to see what character you bring into our family :)

Anyway..Jeremy is just a trickster. He loves to kid, and he really likes to get our goats. He likes to do things like...stick his foot in front of you when you're trying to take a picture with Sheeb.

But..Jeremy is one of the coolest brothers I could ask for. I love that he loves soccer and that he is the father of Beckett. We get along really well and he's...........pretty cool.

Andrew is the biggest goofball there ever was on this entire planet. My favorite thing is that he says one funny thing, everyone laughs at the joke, and then he continues to say that thing forever. For example, Andrew saw the following video.. imitated it, got a laugh, and then proceeded to repeat the following action the ENTIRE day. (Mind you, it was Christmas day, so every time someone opened a gift he would say..."Ohhhh myyy goooooshhh")

[Uh..I don't know how to put the video on here so here's the link :)]

Proof:

Oh brothers.

Gotcha.

This is quite possibly the ONLY
"paparazzi"-type photo I have of anyone.

If you can't read the post-its they say:
"Maybe Daddy (AKA Leremy),"
"Maybe Mommy (AKA Schmeee),"
and "Maybe baby."
This is from before Beckett was born.
Ashley didn't know if she was pregnant,
but I guessed she was.
We figured out about a week later that I was right.

Halloween 2005.

Air & Abby = concert buddies.

Halloween has been changed forever thanks to the year 2005. As the cool older sister, even after graduating high school mind you, I took Abby to a concert Halloween night in Irvine, CA. The line-up was Panic! At the Disco, The Starting Line, Motion City Soundtrack, and Fall Out Boy.

That night went down in history as my all time favorite Halloween to date. They put on one heck of a show. Now every year to the day, I listen to the same playlist of artists, and reminisce with so much fondness. Pulling into that In N' Out afterword listening to The Starting Line is a cherished memory for me, Nerr. CHERISHED. I'll keep it, and pretend to relive it for years to come.

And these are some of my favorite songs...

Love you all! Happy Halloween!

Tears for Fears

So, when you're parents rocked their 20 somethings in the 80's... you know that era will be a part of your life. Movies, culture, music... but not the clothing. The clothing should not be relived. And with that said, my sisters and I have grown to share an appreciation for 80's music, mostly thanks to our father. Yes, I know many of you think it's attrocious (including our husbands!) but we just love it! It is so much more than a silly song with somewhat irrelevant lyrics. This is in part due to the fact that when said father wanted to go to concerts (which is still an activity of the present)... he's been known to take a daughter or two with him.

Thank you father for sharing this thing we enjoy with you individually, and together as sisters...

Lately I've been using actual CD's rather than my iPod, and it has been quite enjoyable to commit to an album, and listen to it twice over. yesterday's CD was the best of Tears for Fears... and that was probably my best decision for the day.

There was a song that reminded me of each sister, and I loved it.

1. Everybody Wants to Rule the World- Shmee (Ash)
This reminds me of her because of her love for the movie Real Genius. Great film. And I believe it's frequented a few playlists of hers over the years. Mostly reminiscent of the years spent with her driving me every where during her junior/senior year. Those were literally good times.
2. Break it Down Again- Me (muahaha)
Ok, I'm not MY sister, but I am A sister... and this song is just my very favorite. Gets me so pumped.
3. Sewing the Seeds of Love- Nerr (Abby)
Dad took Abby to the Tears for Fears concert, and ever since this song has just reminded me of her. I think she tends to sing this one the most.
4. Shout- Al
Now this song doesn't remind me of her because she loves it, but the first line says "shout, shout, let it all out" and THAT reminded me of her because we used to tell Alex to "cry louder" when she would get upset. Rude, I know, but we thought it was funny that she would actually do it and we found it quite entertaining. Glad she's all grown up now, ha. That and this song reminds me of a more vintage "Shout" song, that she used to love. My dad would turn it on and we would run around the downstairs throwing our hands in the air while the song was playing. A hoot and a half.

Love you guys.
Have a listen.

Joining in.

Well here I am! I was in Hawaii with the soccer team when all of this fun stuff started. So looks like I need to catch up :)

Here are some photographic gems for your viewing pleasure. P.S. I know you guys have many photos that are WAY worse of me..and I'm worried for when those manifest themselves.

Bwahahaha!

Burritos & Pools

What can we say...
We like pool time, and we LOVE burritos.
Sometimes a little too much.
As witnessed this summer day in 2009.

Hahaha. GOTCHA.

Payback (the good kind)

Growing up, Ashley was like my second mother.
She helped take care of me, changed my diapers.
You know, big sister stuff.

This is something I didn't fully appreciate until Beckett came along.
I've since had the opportunity to repay her for all of that,
and I am so grateful.
I can now appreciate the amount of time she spent
with me when I was young.
I'm also pretty sure that this gave us a special bond.
Even with our 10 year age difference, we get along really well.
Most of the time, anyway. :)
Thanks a ton Ashley. I love you.

Born & Raised

...on Disney.
Like BIG TIME.
We grew up eating, sleeping, and literally breathing the magical air. Still do (well crap, it's been a few years for me, but that hasn't stopped the rest of my sisters from owning their annual passes).

Anyway, these reminded me of you guys..

Fabulous Faces

Awkward moments of the four of us caught on film for your viewing pleasure, that will hereafter be called "paparazzi" posts...as suggested by Arica.  I figured that since she thought of it, I would be so kind as to scour my external hard drive for one or two of her to start us off.  Here you go!

These little beauties come from our family vacation in Christmas 2007 (best vacation ever by the way) while we waited at the airport for our red-eye flight to Orlando.

"don't put it out with your boots ted!"

Hi squisters & friends!

Squistie is something we've been known to call each other. I don't know where it came from, but I believe Alex might be able to answer that question for us.

Regardless,
I'm excited to get this party started. (:

Alex- 17, Ashley- 26, Abby- 20, Arica- 24

Love,
Air
